Halloween

Its Halloween! You want to know what's really SCARY though? The way many primary schools either don't have an instrumental music program or don't monitor the quality & what's being taught... or know how that negatively impacts the schools reputation amongst parents.

Its Halloween! You want to know what's really SCARY though? The way many primary schools either don't have an instrumental music program or don't monitor the quality & what's being taught... or know how that negatively impacts the schools reputation amongst parents.

How do we know? Because the parents come to us, with HORROR stories of paying for years of tuition and their children not being taught to read music or learning 'tab' or some other alternative to actual 'theory' (reading & writing notation).

We have approached most schools on the Mornington Peninsula but because many do not recognise the importance of musical education, it is not a priority & therefor very difficult to get to speak with the Principal or business manager to make the case. There are multiple exceptions, schools (both primary & secondary) for whom we now provide instrumental music and the results are amazing.

For too long instrumental music teachers in schools have often been someone who 'knows a few chords', teaches songs using 'tab' or 'finger numbers', ignores theory all together and is a no show every 3rd week, really negatively affecting the current (and future) engagement of children with music.

We are highly organised, our teachers are amazing very highly qualified (most having Bachelor of Music), and we are committed to supplying consistent, quality musical education to schools.

Therefor as we have done in the past, and with all the info outlined in this blog post: https://dsemusic.com.au/music-in-schools or provided here for parents and schools: https://dsemusic.com.au/register-your-schools-interest we are again appealing to PARENTS to please write to your school, email your school, tag them in these posts, raise the issue at PTA meetings, speak to your principal, even pass on my direct phone number (0416 586 483) and help us to give every student the opportunity to experience a quality musical education within school.
